Mechanical Energy

Mechanical Energy = KE + PE

PE (Potential Energy) can include more than one type of potential energy, which can be gravitational potential or spring potential for our classes.

So for our class, you can say this:

Mechanical Energy = Ek + Eg + Es

Mechanical energy is the energy associated with motion and position.

Thermal energy (heat) and dissipated energy are not included in mechanical energy.

1. A 1.25 kg brick is 6.2 m above the ground traveling 3.07 m/s. The brick has J of mechanical energy (fill in the blank and round your answer to a WHOLE number – it will say it’s wrong if you do a decimal).
