Physical Properties

Substance: a type of matter with a unique set of properties.

Property: a characteristic, trait, attribute, or quality; something that defines the nature of a substance.

Physical Property: a property that can be measured without altering the chemical makeup of a substance.

Examples:
•boiling point
•melting point
•density
•color
•hardness
•crystal structure / shape
•electrical conductivity
•thermal conductivity
•viscosity (resistance to flow / how “thick” a fluid is)
•elastic modulus (resistance to bending / stretching / twisting)
•magnetism
